Lady Stingers sweep Wake Tech, Bryant And Stratton

The Florence-Darlington Technical College Lady Stingers beat Wake Tech on the road on Friday and swept Bryant and Stratton at Old Cormell Field on Saturday.

In the opening game on Friday, the Lady Stingers defeated Wake Tech 10-1 in five innings. Marissa Tyndall was the winning pitcher as Tori Alexander finished out the game as the relief. Combined, the two ladies struck out four batters while only allowing five hits and a run.

Riley Boyle was 2-3 with two runs batted in. Hanna Gainey was 3-3 with two runs batted in. Shelby Cox was 2-4 with two runs batted in.

The Lady Stingers won 16-5 in five innings during the second game of the doubleheader. Tyndall pitched one inning. Alexander was the relief as she pitched four innings. Combined, they struck out two batters and allowed seven hits and four walks.

Erin Bailey led the team in the batter’s box as she was 2-4 with a sacrifice and a grand slam with five total runs batted in. Brice Brown was 2-4 with three runs batted in.

On Saturday, the Lady Stingers defeated Bryant and Stratton 10-2 in five innings during the first game of the doubleheader. Tyndall was the winning pitcher, and Alexander was the relief pitcher. Combined, they only allowed three hits.

Brown was 2-3 with three runs batted in, and Cox was 3-4 at the plate.

In the final game of the weekend, the Lady Stingers won again in five innings, defeating Bryant and Stratton 13-0. Tyndall and Alexander struck out five batters and allowed a hit and a walk.

Kristina Lee was the leading hitter as she was 3-4 with four runs batter in. Cox was 3-4 with two runs batted in, and Gainey was 2-3 with a run batted in.

The Lady Stingers now have a winning record of 25-5.
