Johnny F. Hawkins

Johnny F. Hawkins, 82, of Darlington died on Wednesday, May 20, 2020. He was born in Rose Hill Township, N.C. He was the son of the late Rufus and Eva Hawkins of Kinston, N.C.
He was married to the late Olivia Kelley Hawkins, who preceded him in death. Johnny or “Benny” as he was called by family was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and an incredible great-grandfather or “Papa” as he was called.
He retired from GE Medical in Florence and enjoyed traveling, family, friends and puzzles.
Always witty with a quick comeback, he never met a stranger, always greeted you with a smile on his face. Johnny was an active member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
He leaves to cherish his memories six children: Patricia (Allen) Rouse, Carolyn F. Hawkins of the home, William (Valencia) Taylor, Pamela (Ted) Murray, Barry Taylor and Larry Lawson and an adopted son, Frederick (Lenora) Davis. Also, 19 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nancy Paul and Holland Hawkins; two brothers, Dempsey Hawkins and Gerald Hawkins.
Johnny was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters, one of whom was his twin. He leaves a host of nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, family and friends, along with his spiritual brothers and sisters.
Due to COVID-19, all services are private at this time. Arrangements are being handled by Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home of Darlington.
