An inmate at the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center faces multiple charges following an incident on Tuesday that resulted in a correction officer being hospitalized.

Sadarius Douglas, who was in custody at the facility, was charged on Thursday with second-degree assault and battery, third-degree assault and battery, and carrying or concealing a weapon as an inmate.

Authorities report that Douglas threatened a correction officer with a metal rod during the altercation. The extent of the officer’s injuries and their current condition have not been disclosed.

Douglas remains in custody at the detention center as he awaits a bond hearing. Local officials have not provided additional details about the incident or security measures at the facility.
