Hurricane Michael downs trees, floods Darlington streets

Hurricane Michael’s heavy rains and high winds have felled several trees and flooded at least a dozen streets around Darlington. Though creek waters rose several inches at the Spring Street Bridge, the road remained open as of Thursday (Oct. 11) afternoon. Crews from the Darlington Fire and Police Departments and the Street Department are out working to clear away fallen branches and standing water. City public safety advisories ask people to stay off the streets today and avoid driving through standing water.
