Hartsville singers seeking to attend a-cappella camp in Los Angeles
Two local singers from Hartsville have been chosen as the only South Carolina residents to attend an a-cappella camp in Los Angeles, CA hosted by the group Pentatonix.
The pair, Stone Martin and Monica Saxton, are classmates and have become good friends through their shared love of music and performance.
Stone Martin appeared on FOX-TV’s “The X Factor” in 2013, garnering a legion of young fans across the nation. Since the show aired, Martin was accepted into the Coker College PULSE program to study piano. He is also a member of the South Carolina All State Choir. He has been recording his first single with producer Roosevelt McLemoore. In addition, Martin recently learned he was accepted to attend the Brevard School of Music for the three-week summer piano program.
Monica Saxton was chosen to participate in the Miss S.C. Palmetto Princess Program four years consecutively, winning scholarship money for her fundraising efforts for the Miss S.C. Scholarship Organization. Saxton has also danced at Dance World for 15 years, where she also instructs students and choreographs dances.
Fundraisers will be held on June 3rd and 4th at The South of Pearl Restaurant in Darlington. Tickets will be $35 per person, and will include a live performance.
