Hartsville Red Foxes defeat Aiken

The Hartsville Red Foxes will advance to the lower State Championship after their victory over Aiken in a varsity basketball skirmish, Thursday, February 25 in Hartsville. Hartsville started the game off hot scoring several 3 pointer shots pushing them far ahead Aiken. The first quarter ending with Hartsville far in the lead, 17 to 5. Aiken stepped up during the second quarter with several turnovers and 3 point shots. At the half, Aiken led 21 to 19. After witnessing the drive from Aiken in the first half, Hartsville played a more aggressive approach causing the visiting team to make errors. Despite Hartsville’s efforts, Aiken still let 32 to 29 at the end of the third quarter. The pressure was on at the start of the final quarter. Coach English amped up the defensive pressure and took advantage of several rebounds. It wasn’t until the end that Hartsville finally broke the lead and won 47 to 42. Hartsville’s Cesare Edwards and Jordan Blue led the Red Foxes with 11 points each, Kameron Foman and Xzavier Thaggard both added 7, Tristan LeXander connected 6 points, and Jamari Briggs score 5. Aiken player R.J. Felton led the game with 16 points, Demarcus Mazone scored 9, Kameron Williamson added 6 points, Natorious Holland and Clay Howard both place 5 points, and Daarion Roberson added 1.
