From Staff Reports

Friday, Nov. 19, the Hartsville Red Foxes hosted the West Florence Knights in Hartsville for the varsity playoff game. Expectations were high since both teams are known for their skill. The Red Foxes, after fighting to pass the Knights’ strong defense, finally scored a touchdown after Carmello McDaniel ran a touchdown followed by a complete kick from Jahleel Lewis, bringing Hartsville to a 7-0 lead over West Florence. During the second quarter, the Knights also found an opportunity to score 7 points on Hartsville. However, shortly after West Florence’s score, Hartsville’s Da’Marion Coe ran a touchdown bringing the Red Foxes to a 14-7 lead into halftime. After halftime, the Red Foxes found themselves up against a different team. The Knights broke through the Red Fox defense for a touchdown and a field goal to add 10 points to the scoreboard. By the start of the fourth quarter, West Florence led 17-14 over Hartsville. The final quarter saw both teams fight with everything they had as the Knights fought to hold their significant lead against the Red Foxes. Hartsville’s McKendrie Douglas scored the touchdown for Hartsville followed by a successful kick from Jahleel Lewis. Unfortunately, their excitement diminished after West Florence in return scored two more touchdowns over Hartsville. By the end of the game, Hartsville lost 31-21 to the West Florence Knights. Congratulations Hartsville Red Foxes for a wonderful season and for making it this far into the playoffs!
