Gilchrist Road shooting being investigated by Darlington County Sheriff’s Office
Darlington County Sheriff’s Investigators are currently investigating a shooting that injured one person. It occurred in the 500 block of Gilchrist Road in Darlington around 7:15 p.m. Thursday, April 6.
According to the victim, he was in front of his home on Gilchrist Road when he was approached by at least two males in an older model white Buick Oldsmobile described as having large wheels. Shortly thereafter, a light skin black male in the back seat with short dreadlocks fired a handgun striking the victim. The driver was described as a light skin black male wearing a Chicago Bulls jersey and a baseball hat with long dreadlocks.
The victim is currently in an area hospital receiving medical treatment for a non-life threatening wound. A motive has not been established at this time. This case remains under investigation.
