Former Gov. Beasley to speak at Thanksgiving Service

On Wednesday, November 23rd at 7pm, there will be a Community Thanksgiving Service, at Welsh Neck Baptist Church in Society Hill.

For several years the church leaders in Society Hill have worked to fulfill a vision of Community.  This began in 2018, with a gathering of all races and denominations the night before Thanksgiving.  Here the Community came together to worship and celebrate the blessings God has bestowed on our country.  And although two years required them to meet outside due to COVID concerns, the town of Society Hill keeps pushing toward the goal of faithful worship as one body as outlined in the New Testament.

This year, with the challenges of feeding those in need here and around the world, David Beasley will bring the message.  Mr. Beasley is the former governor of South Carolina, and, serving under four presidents, is currently the Executive Director of the United Nations World Food Program.  Living in Darlington County, he is a true example of a servant leader.

Everyone is invited to attend this service, special music will be provided along with a welcome from Mayor Duke of Society Hill.  An offering will be received to support a local food bank and a time of fellowship will follow the service.

The supporting churches are:  Union Baptist Church, Society Hill Presbyterian Church, Bethesda Baptist Church, St. Johns Temple, Society Hill Church of God, St. James Church, and Welsh Neck Baptist Church. Welsh Neck Baptist Church is located at 112 Church Street in Society Hill. Please come out and join us.
