Flowers, Koppernaes wed in Darlington

Miss Susanna Stuart Flowers and Mr. Leif Christian Koppernaes, both of Beaufort, S.C. were married on July 23, 2022 at the Darlington Presbyterian Church in Darlington, S.C. The Reverend Kevin Terrance Cauley performed the ceremony. A program of wedding music was presented by the Charleston Entertainment String Trio. A reception followed at the Darlington Country Club.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Damon Steger Flowers of Darlington. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Hazle Bristow, Jr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank McLeod Flowers all of Darlington.
Susanna is a graduate of College of Charleston and received a master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from Lenoir-Rhyne University. She is currently an occupational therapist for the Beaufort County School District.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Koppernaes of Beaufort. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Johan Koppernaes of Bedford, Nova Scotia and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Dooley of New York, New York. He is a graduate of the College of Charleston and is currently Chief of Operations for WeeBee Enterprises of Yemassee, S.C.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a wedding gown of peau de soie, which featured a looped bow in the back that cascaded into a cathedral train. Her veil of handmade Brussels lace was also worn by her mother and two aunts on their wedding day. She carried a bouquet of garden roses and peonies.
Miss Anna Lee Rhea served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Lucille Montgomery Boyle, Miss Ann Samuel Cavanagh, Miss Caroline Margaret Clark, cousin of the bride, Dr. Betsy Andrews Flowers, sister-in-law of the bride, Miss Claire Boatwright Holt, Miss Amelia Sarah Graham Menzies, Miss Kimberley Ann Moye, Miss Carly Marie Sparano, and Mrs. Mary Palmer Richards Tucker, cousin of the bride.
Mr. Finn Arnung Koppernaes and Mr. Drummond Edward Koppernaes served as their brother’s best men. Groomsmen were Mr. Nathan Edwin Akers, Mr. James Clayton Babalis, Mr. William Thomas Dailey, Mr. James Zachary Everidge, Mr. Andrew Griffin Faryniarz, Dr. Damon Steger Flowers, Jr., brother of the bride, Mr. Daniel Charles Hall, Mr. Peter Crawford Olsson, and Mr. George Benjamin Post.
Mr. William Bennett Munson served as the Crucifer. Mrs. Anna Clark Dittenhouser, Miss Tillman Ann Munson, Miss Caroline Gardner Richards and Miss Elizabeth Dryden Richards, cousins of the bride, served as greeters and program attendants.
Following a wedding trip to Costa Rica, the couple will make their home in Beaufort, S.C.
