Five men have been charged with murder in a Nov. 6 Darlington County slaying, according to the Sheriff’s Office and county jail records. Martez Draequan Commander, 24, of Hartsville; Paul Jermaine Sexton, 18, of Darlington; Shykeem Shakur McCoy, 25, of Lamar; Devarious Sincere Wilson, 19, of Lamar; and Rector Tyrin Bishop, 22, of Darlington face murder charges in the slaying of James Bishop at Beatrice Street and Indian Branch Road, jail records show. All remained in jail as of last week. Bond for Bishop was denied. The others were waiting for a General Sessions Court judge to decide whether they would be granted bond. Warrants allege they “(engaged) in a gunfight with multiple people in a neighborhood with depraved indifference for human life.” Sheriff James Hudson said officials could not say more, as the investigation is continuing. — Bobby Bryant
