A young bull wandering loose near the Darlington Livestock Market on Bobo Newsom Highway 151 caused a bit of a ruckus on Friday evening, April 29.

After a quick call to Darlington County Sheriff’s Office, a DCSO officer arrived on the scene.

Quickly joining the quest to keep the scared animal out of the road, an employee of the Livestock Market stopped to help, along with a helpful man on a 4-wheeler, the newspaper lady and her little car, and a young boy who lived next door.

Two pastures were opened, but “Ferdinand” was not being cooperative; he ran in opposite directions for nearly 90 minutes until he was finally coaxed to safety inside a locked pasture. Perhaps he just wanted to visit the fine mules and donkeys?

Noting that he could have caused a serious auto accident on the heavily traveled road, one hopes that this rascal does not sneak out again!
