Ex-county deputy charged with impersonation of officer
A former officer with the Lamar Police Department and the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office is facing charges of impersonating an officer. Daniel Wayne Barnett, 38, was arrested Feb. 11 by Florence County deputies and charged with four counts of impersonating an officer, according to local media reports. Barnett is accused of conducting traffic stops, illegally detaining people, as he wore a badge and handgun. He’s also charged with unlawful carrying of a pistol, according to reports.
