Downtown Block Party featuring Backfire to rock out East College Avenue in Hartsville

Main Street Hartsville is gearing up for 2017’s kick-off event, a free Downtown Block Party on Thursday, April 6th, featuring live music by the band Backfire, and sponsored by Sonoco. According to their bio, “Backfire plays everything from 60’s standards, to pop country, to alternative and modern rock (and anything in between)!”

“This year, we have been awaiting the completion of the paving of East College, because we knew the next step would be to enjoy concerts under the new College Avenue archway and string lights. The newly paved area is an excellent place to hold events and I believe it a good step toward a brighter future in the City of Hartsville,” said Coker College student, John Thomas Peagler.

Also joining in the festivities and intermission fun will be Sonoco Young Professionals and Hartsville Young Professionals. “The event is always family-friendly, and celebrates the local businesses which set Hartsville apart,” states Suzy Moyd, Executive Director of Main Street Hartsville, “If you haven’t been downtown in a while, come early and visit all of our fabulous new boutiques and restaurants.”

The event on Thursday, April 6th is from 6 to 9 p.m. on the portion of East College Avenue between Fourth Street and Fifth Street, with both public parking lots being accessible from the Fourth Street side. The Downtown Block Parties on College Avenue not only feature music and dancing, but also a community coming together with sidewalk sales, kids activities, and food and drink vendors.

Other concerts slated for this Spring are: Thursday, April 13th, The Tim Clark Band, sponsored by Hartsville Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Fiat; and Thursday, April 27th, The Paul Grimshaw Band, sponsored by SPC Credit Union. All concerts will happen on East College Avenue this Spring.
