Dillon Lady Wildcats defeat Darlington Lady Falcons 14-8

The Dillon Lady Wildcats defeated the visiting Darlington Lady Falcons 14-8 in the first game of the doubleheader played in Dillon at 5:00 p.m. and 4-0 in the second game played at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 29. Dillon’s Chesney Caddell picked up her first win of the season in the opener pitching 4.2 innings. She allowed 7 hits, walked 2, struck out 3, and allowed 8 runs of which 7 were earned. Brayli Weatherford was tagged with the loss. She pitched 4 innings and allowed 16 hits, struck out no one, walked no one, and allowed 14 runs of which 12 were earned. Darlington, a powerhouse in 4 A softball this year, quickly placed 6 runs on the scoreboard in the top of the first inning. However, 3 A powerhouse Dillon responded with 7 runs in the bottom of the first inning. Darlington’s big inning was led by Amber Rogers and McPhail, an error on Dillon’s defense on one hit by Brayli Weatherford, and a double by Ashlee Windham. The Lady Falcons added 2 runs in the top of the fourth inning. The Lady Wildcats scored on a stolen base by Logan Grice, a single by Chesney Caddell, and a single by Jenascia Lester in the first inning. Dillon added 3 runs in the bottom of the second inning, 3 runs in the bottom of the third inning, and a run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Darlngton committed 4 errors in the game, and Dillon committed 2 errors. Dillon’s Qy Wilson, Ny Wilson, and Jenascia Lester each had 2 singles and 3 rbi in 3 at-bats while Abby Bristow was perfect at the plate with 3 singles and 2 rbi in 3 at-bats. Lexie Rogers had 2 singles and a rbi in her 2 at-bats. Chesney Caddell had a single and a rbi in her 3 at-bats. Paige Sherman connected for 2 singles in 3 at-bats. Logan Grice had a single in her 3 at-bats. Darlington’s Ashlee Windham had a double and 3 rbi in her 2 at-bats. McPhail added a single and a rbi in her 3 at-bats. Ashton Goodwin connected for 2 singles in her 3 at-bats while Brayli Weatherford had a single in her 2 at-bats. Jones had a double in her 2 at-bats while Amber Rogers had a single in her 3 at-bats. Madie Andrews picked up a rbi in her 2 at-bats. In the second game of the varsity softball doubleheader, Dillon’s Paige Sherman pitched a 4-0 shut-out over the Lady Falcons. She pitched 5 innings and allowed 3 hits, walked 1, struck out 2, and allowed no runs. Madie Andrews took the loss for Darlington. She pitched 4 innings and allowed 8 hits, walked no one, struck out 5, and allowed 4 earned runs. Darlington did not commit an error in the game while Dillon was guilty of 3 errors. The Lady Falcons’ Jones had a double and a single in her 3 at-bats while Ashton Goodwin connected for a single in her 2 at-bats. Dillon scored twice in the bottom of the third inning and twice in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Lady Wildcats’ Chesney Caddell had 2 singles and a rbi in her 2 at-bats. Jenascia had 2 singles and a rbi in her 2 at-bats. Abby Bristow had a single and a rbi in her 2 at-bats. Paige Sherman had a single and a rbi in her 3 at-bats. Lexie Rogers had a single in her 2 at-bats, and Logan Grice connected for a single in her 2 at-bats. The Lady Wildcats will host Pee Dee Academy this evening (Tuesday, May 4) at 7:00 p.m. Support your team.
