DHS put on lockdown after shots fired nearby
Darlington High School was briefly put on lockdown Feb. 15 after shots were fired near the school, police said. Darlington Police Chief Kelvin Washington said an investigation found that someone fired gunshots – not at the school or on school grounds, “but in the area.” No one apparently was hit. DHS was “briefly placed on lockdown due to activity near the school,” according to a statement from the school district. “Everyone was safe and accounted for. As soon as law enforcement gave us the all-clear, the lockdown was lifted.” There were no suspects. — Bobby Bryant
