DCSD hires new director of elementary education

The Darlington County School District (DCSD) announced the hiring of Omoro King as its new director of elementary education. King comes to DCSD from the Chesterfield County School District, where he served as a middle level principal, elementary school principal, assistant principal and mathematics teacher. “We welcome Dr. King to the Darlington County School District,” said Tim Newman, DCSD superintendent. “He brings a valuable combination of teaching and administrative proficiency that will drive our elementary grades forward in providing quality education for all of our younger students.” King holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Supervision as well as an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership and Supervision from Wingate University. He also holds a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Cambridge College and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of South Carolina. The district’s director of elementary education assists the assistant superintendent of curriculum, instruction and assessment with the tasks of providing leadership and support to elementary and middle schools. The director will also be tasked with developing, implementing and evaluating educational programs and services. “I am excited to be in this unique position as director of elementary education for Darlington County School District,” King said. “I look forward to visiting elementary schools regularly to ensure effective communication. I am excited to work under Dr. Tim Newman’s leadership in assisting the curriculum and instruction team in developing our system-wide curriculum that promotes high expectations for the district’s teachers and students.”
