DCIT Director Bert Guerry announces retirement
Bert Guerry, director of the Darlington County Institute of Technology, has announced plans to retire at the end of the 2015-16 school year. Guerry has been the school’s leader since its inception in 2005.
“Bert Guerry has helped shape career and technology education in our district and we appreciate his leadership and insight,” said Dr. Eddie Ingram. “I wish him the best of luck in the future.”
Guerry has been in education since 1972, first as a classroom teacher, then as assistant principal, and associate principal and Career & Technology Director in Florence School District Three. In 2005, he joined the Darlington County School District as the director of the district’s new Darlington County Institute of Technology, providing a wide range of career and technology courses for students across the county.
