Day of Prayer Proclamation

Mayor Tony Watkins, seated, signed the official Proclamation for the Annual Nationl Day of Prayer on May 7th, to be observed in Darlington with a prayer service from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. on the County Courthouse grounds. He was joined by members of the Darlington Ministerial Association, left to right: Pastor Kendall Williams, Pastor Tom Norrell, and Pastor Charley L. Johnson (Bishop). The Association is sponsoring the event. In the event of rain, the venue will change to Trinity United Methodist Church, 126 Pearl Street.

The theme this year is, “Lord, Hear Our Cry” (I Kings 8:28. For the May 7th observance, Dr. Jack Graham, the 2015 Honorary Chairman, wrote a special prayer to be simultaneously read throughout our nation at noon, EDT.
“This recitation will create a huge wave of prayer, flowing from one coast to another,” said Marilyn E. Blackmon, event coordinator.

Hartsville’s service will be held at the same time at Centenniel Park, rain location Wesley UMC.
