Darlington’s Hot Chocolate 5K Run/Walk a success
Darlington’s Hot Chocolate 5K Run/Walk was a huge success with 48 participants.
Macedonia Life-Skills Center and Genesis Community Foundation thanks all participants, sponsors, donors, volunteers, supporters and prayer warriors for their support.
A big thank you goes to sponsors DCB (Dedicated Community Bank), FBi Construction and Raceway Grill. A big thank you goes to Fitness World for their support and the use of their facility and parking venue and to the Darlington Police Department for their assistance in leading and monitoring the route to keep everyone safe.
A big thank you also goes to Dixie Federal Credit Union for their financial support, the Purple Fish for hot chocolate that helped keep everyone warm and to IGA for the bananas that stopped hunger pains. To the organizer of the event, Bailee Heatherly, thank you for all of your hard work and boots on the ground.
All proceeds went to Macedonia Life-Skills Center in Darlington. Macedonia Life-Skills Center, started 1998 in Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, is an independent, all-volunteer, nonprofit organization committed to providing opportunities for disadvantaged and underserved youth and their families to receive the necessary skills to become self-sufficient and productive at home, in school, and in their community.
Macedonia Life-Skills Center provides disadvantaged and underserved youth a supervised and safe place to engage in fun and creative learning activities that encourage positive behavior. Areas of focus: Bible Study, Life-Skills, Character Education, Career Exploration and Preparation, Prevention, Health and Wellness.
The center also provides mentoring, tutoring, homework assistance and a summer feeding and enrichment program. Forty-one churches and 30 nonprofits are partners in these activities and programs.
