As a young lady growing up in Darlington, Candace A. Jones was surrounded by stories of faith and spirit, most importantly the story of her own miraculous birth. She has grown to become a woman that shares her faith with her gift of writing. She will be home this weekend to share her first book with the people that helped shape her writing career, and inspired her enduring faith.
Candace is the daughter of local Pastor and Mrs. Henry L. Chapman of Restoration Outreach Ministries. She was born prematurely in a complicated delivery.
“She was our miracle baby,” said her father.
Candice went on write extensively on her blog The Pages Bleed since 2008. Her first book, entitled “For Such a Time As This” combines poetry and Biblical lessons, The book may be used be used for group Bible study, or for individual study.
She and her husband, Falando Jones, reside in Indianapolis, IN.
“It never ceases to amaze me that God would willingly use me to share my story to encourage someone else,” said Candace. “Yet when I think of who He is and how relentless His love is for everyone, why not me? Being able to come back to Darlington for my first book signing is heartwarming because this is where my journey began. Being a proud member of the Mayo High Sschool for Math, Science and Technology’s graduating class of 2003 (and Pate, Brockington, and Darlington Jr. High–now DMS), it invigorates me knowing that some of my personal struggles, life experiences, tribulations, and triumphs may help another young person walking down those same halls–or an older person who has never found healing. My purpose, your purpose, is for us to be more than what life throws at us.”
Candace will share the book at a local book signing at the Darlington Library on Friday, May 29 from 2 – 5 p.m., and Saturday May 30 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.. She will also be at he Darlington Public Square Courtyard from 2 – 5 p.m.
