Darlington man drowns, coroner says
A 70-year-old Darlington man drowned while cleaning the spillway in his pond, officials say.
Chafee Jones of Darlington was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday by Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee. He said the incident took place on Harmony Hall Road.
The death has been ruled an accident, Hardee said.
