City of Darlington staff rolled out their best rose-toned outfits last week, keeping up the annual tradition of coming to work clad in pink to show support for breast cancer patients and their loved ones. Though this disease gets a lot of attention every October, with everyone from government leaders to NFL superstars wearing pink, statistics show that breast cancer remains a preeminent health concern in America. In 2015 alone, over 230,000 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed (along with 60,000 cases of non-invasive breast cancer), and 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will develop invasive breast cancer during her lifetime.
