Darlington County roads are on DOT’s paving list

More than a dozen Darlington County roads and streets are included in the state Department of Transportation’s “pavement improvement program” for the 2020-21 fiscal year.

DOT says the improvements are part of an additional $562 million in road paving and resurfacing projects besides the $1.3 billion in “road, bridge and safety project work” already underway in the state.

The DOT says the following Darlington County roads and streets are scheduled for repaving. The agency’s list does not give cross streets, so it’s not clear exactly where this work is to be done.

MAJOR ROADS: Pearl Street, 1.4 miles; South Governor Williams Highway, 0.65 miles; South Main Street, 0.66 miles.

FARM-TO-MARKET SECONDARIES: South Center Road, 1.94 miles; Seven Pines Road, 3.67 miles; Sonoco Road, 0.32 miles.

NEIGHBORHOOD STREETS: Buchanan Street, 0.08 miles; Darlington Avenue, 0.18 miles; South Railroad Avenue, 0.89 miles; West McIver Road, 0.30 miles; Wells Street, 0.59 miles; Brockington Road, 0.27 miles; Davis Street, 0.16 miles; Blanding Drive, 0.93 miles; Palmetto Road, 1.44 miles and 0.17 miles.
