Darlington County EMS Recovers Stolen Ambulance
Darlington County Emergency Medical Services was able to recover their ambulance that was stolen from a local hospital. All patients and employees were safe and there were no major damages to the ambulance.
Early this morning, a Darlington County crew transported a patient to Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center in Hartsville. When the crew was leaving the hospital, they discovered the ambulance was gone. Local law enforcement was notified.
All Darlington County ambulances are equipped with tracking software. The EMS supervisor on duty was able to use this software to locate the ambulance on South Center Road, Darlington. Hartsville Police, Darlington County Sheriff’s Office, and South Carolina Highway Patrol was notified and found the ambulance at this location.
Upon arrival, there was no one present with the ambulance, nor was there any obvious damage. All equipment and medication was accounted for, the only item missing was the keys to the unit. For precaution, the ambulance has been sent to the county shop for inspection and to have the locks changed.
