Darlington Chamber accepting award nominations
The Greater Darlington Chamber of Commerce is now accepting nominations for its various annual awards. Nominations may be submitted for the following awards: Lifetime Achievement, Citizen of the Year, Community Pride, Educator of the Year, Future Business Leader, and Small Business of the Year. The chamber’s nomination committee will review each nomination and select winners to be awarded on February 9 at the chamber’s Annual Membership Banquet. Chamber members may submit a one-page essay to nominate a candidate for these awards; each member may nominate one person or business for each award.
Nomination essays can be submitted to the chamber via email to nsteadman@darlingtonchamber.com, or by mail at 38 Public Square, Darlington SC, 29532. The deadline for nominations is January 8. Nomination guideline forms are available at the chamber office and on the chamber’s website, www.darlingtonchamber.com.
“Darlington, Lamar, and Society Hill have so many people and organizations that deserve recognition,” says Norm Steadman, executive director. “The Banquet is the perfect opportunity to present these awards in front of the entire business community. The biggest thrill is seeing the surprised faces of the winners!” Traditionally, winners are not notified of their award until it is announced at the Banquet; those who nominated them are tasked with secrecy in order to maintain the surprise of the award.
Questions about the nomination process or eligibility can be directed to the chamber by calling 843-393-2641.
