Coker names Martin Keene as Dean of School of Business

Coker University recently appointed Marvin Keene as Dean of the Coker University School of Business and Professor of Business. As Dean of the Business School, Keene provides strategic, academic, and operational leadership for some of Coker University’s fastest-growing and nationally recognized programs. “With a growing number of Coker students seeking degrees in business, it is essential we have the sort of innovative leadership that allows the University to continue to adapt and grow its academic offerings to meet the needs of its students and of the major organizations that hire our graduates,” noted Coker University President Natalie J. Harder. “Marvin Keene brings just the experience and vision that Coker and its business school needs today.” Keene has spent the past 17 years at Coastal Carolina University. He began at CCU as an assistant professor of finance and later served as chair of its Department of Accounting, Finance, and Economics, where he supervised over 30 faculty members, and as a tenured full professor in the department. Keene began his academic career as an instructor at Florida State University. Keene holds memberships in the American Finance Association, Beta Alpha Psi, CFA Institute and CFA Society of South Carolina, Financial Management Association, International Economics Honor Society, 100 Black Men of America and 100 Black Men of Myrtle Beach, and the Ph.D. project.
