Coker men’s soccer falls in heartbreaker

The Coker University men’s soccer team fell in heartbreaking fashion on Saturday (Oct. 9) by a 4-3 score to Mars Hill University. The Cobras got out to an early lead thanks to a goal from Luca Leonini in the 13th minute of the match. They would hold onto the one goal margin until the half. Mars Hill would answer back with a goal to level the score at 1-1 in the 54th minute. Freshman Bastiaan Jager went on to add two second half goals for the first two of his collegiate career to make the score 3-1 in favor of the Cobras. Mars Hill would respond with three goals late in the second half to stun the Cobras and steal the road conference win. Jager and Markos Touroukis led the way for the Cobras with three shots each. Coker will look to bounce back on Wednesday, Oct. 13th, as they travel to Wingate University to face off against the Bulldogs in a South Atlantic Conference matchup.
