The Lord Cares

Please assist The Lord Cares in caring for those in need in the Darlington area.
T.L.C.’s food bank is located at 201 Grove Street in Darlington. They are open Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10 a.m. until 12 noon. Donations of non-perishable food items (especially canned meats) are needed, as are toiletries, bathroom tissue, and paper towels.

62nd Annual Barbeque Wesley Chapel, Lydia
The United Methodist Men of Wesley Chapel, Lydia will hold its 62nd annual barbeque on Wednesday, November 11th at the Lydia Community Center. The annual BBQ originated in 1954 as a fund raising event with the proceeds used to advance the ministries of the church. The barbecue is prepared using traditional methods of cooking over 1,700 pounds of boneless pork butt over locally cut hickory for 14 hours. The cooked meat will be hand cut and mixed with 100 gallons of locally prepared mustard based BBQ sauce. The BBQ is served from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. The United Methodist Women’s Annual Bazaar is held concurrently with all proceeds going to missions. The cost for a BBQ plate is $8.00. Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church was founded in 1789 and is the oldest Methodist congregation in Darlington County.

Taste of Syracuse Building Fundraiser
Enjoy the delicious food from the chefs of Syracuse at the Taste of Syracuse Building Fundraiser on November 14 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., sponsored by the River of Life Christian Church at 1683 Syracuse Community Road, Darlington. Savannah Grove Gospel Choir Anniversary
The Gospel Choir of Savannah Grove A.M.E. Church, near Lamar, will celebrate their 46th Anniversary, November 15 at 4 p.m. Rev. Johnnie O. Coe and the St. Matthew A.M.E. Church Family from Hamer, S.C. will be the special guests. Rev. Steven C. Gilchrist is the Pastor.

Operation Christmas Child at Central Baptist
Central Baptist Church, 512 Spring Street, Darlington, is a drop-off location for Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes. The collection dates are November 16-23, 2015. God’s Garden
God’s Garden is ready to plant for the winter season. The garden is located on Smith Avenue in Darlington. Everyone is invited to join in the fun of planting and watching your plants grow and produce edible foods.
There is no charge for planting in the garden. The gardeners furnish his/her seeds and fertilizer. We do have access to water for the garden, and a tiller for the plowing. If you are interested in being part of God’s Garden, call 393-3540 and leave a message. Your call will be returned. We would like to get young people involved.
