Darlington Downtown Revitalization Association officially welcomed a new business to the community on April 14 with a ribbon cutting ceremony for Sweet Jane’s Cafe and Wine Bar, located at 26 Public Square.

Elaine Reed sworn in as Darlington City Council’s 7th member
Elaine Reed was officially sworn in to office at the April 12m 2016 meeting with her son, Cisco Reed, at her side. She won the special election on April 5th for Ward 2, replacing the seat left vacant by Mayor Gloria Hines.
Fatal vehicle crash at County Courthouse
A pick up truck hit the Darlington County Courthouse at the Public Square in Darlington early this morning, killing the driver. The City of Darlington police department was the first on the scene before 4:00 a.m., finding the vehicle in flames.

Darlington County primaries set for June 14
Just as local voters put one local political race to bed, several others are on the horizon, and the Darlington County Office of Elections and Registrations has begun preparing for the Democratic and Republican Primaries scheduled for June 14.
County establishes fund for Economic Development
