The women of the Darlington County Section of the National Council of Negro Women met on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 to install their newly elected officers. The group is comprised of professional women from the area to work together to advocate for issues within the community.

During the month, we can celebrate in addition to Labor Day, honey, the piano, Little League, fall hats, Hispanic Heritage, subliminal marketing, popsicles, kids’ good manners, “Be Late for Something,” and one of my favorites as a boss, “Fight Procrastination.” At the Darlington County Public Library, we focus on what has become known as “Banned Books Week.”

The Spaulding High School Class of 1969 held their 47th Reunion on September 16, 17 and 18, 2016. On Friday night, the class gathered with their spouses for a meet and greet at the former high school in Lamar, which is now Spaulding Middle School. S.C. Department of Education announces 2015-16 testing data for Darlington County
This week, the S.C. Department of Education released results for several statewide tests for the 2015-16 school year, including ACT WorkKeys, ACT, International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme assessments, and the South Carolina Palmetto Assessment of State Standards (SCPASS).
