Tyesha Ervin Re-Enlistment Service
BM2 Tyesha S. Ervin of Darlington, S.C. re-enlisted in the US Navy on October 27, 2016 in Jacksonville, Florida. Ervin has already served eight years, and re-enlisted for six more years. Tyesha is the daughter of George and Hattie Ervin, and is the granddaughter of Bernetha Ervin and Josephine Simmons of Darlington. She is a 2004 graduate of Darlington High School.
Mingo sails aboard the USS Makin Island
Petty Officer 2nd Class Brandon Mingo, from Darlington, S.C., makes an entry in the ship’s deck log aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8). Makin Island, the flagship of the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations in support of security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
Trinity Byrnes IT Club receives grant
Trinity-Byrnes Collegiate School received a $27,000 grant from Dr. David and Mary Collins, which will cover the new addition of a technology club, plus student tuition assistance.
