Be an overcomer; don’t be overtaken

By Pastor Don Squires,

Temple Free Will Baptist Church, Darlington

Greetings in the precious name of Jesus! In the midst of this crazy, chaotic world that we live in, we are desperate to understand and desire to know how to overcome and have peace in the midst of all the unrest around us. Psalm 26 gives us a step by step plan for God’s people to be overcomers and not overtaken. Psalm 26 1) Judge me, O Lord; for I have walked in mine integrity: I have trusted in the Lord; therefore I shall not slide. 2) Examine me, O Lord, and prove me; try my reins and my heart. (You must have the right beginning — Trust the Lord) 3) For your loving kindness is before my eyes: and I have walked in your truth. (Read your Bible — Study His word.) 4) I have not sat with vain persons, neither will I go in with dissemblers. 5) I have hated the congregation of evildoers; and will not sit with the wicked. (Surround yourself with people of like faith. Gather with those who help build you up instead of tearing you down.) 6) I will wash my hands in innocency: so I will be found around your altar, O Lord: (You must build a strong prayer life. Be found at His feet often.) 7) That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all your wondrous works. (Let the redeemed of the Lord say so. Tell somebody!) 8) Lord, I have loved the habitation of your house, and the place where your honour dwells. (Go to church! Be found in the house of the Lord.) 9) Gather not my soul with sinners, nor my life with bloody men: 10) In whose hands is mischief, and their right hand is full of bribes. 11) But as for me, I will walk in mine integrity: redeem me, and be merciful unto me. 12) My foot standeth in an even place: in the congregations will I bless the Lord. (Praise Him constantly, because He is worthy.) I’m praying right now for each and every one reading this today. You are not alone in this thing called life. He will never leave nor forsake you. Remember … Jesus loves you and so do we.
