DCSO issues statement after tragic shooting death of deputy
On July 1, 2025, at approximately 1:30am, Darlington County Deputies responded to a residence on Old Timers Court in reference to a wanted individual. During an encounter inside the residence, two deputies were ambushed, one deputy, Devin Mason, 27, ultimately succumbed to his injuries, and the suspect was killed. Another deputy was transported to the hospital for treatment where he remains in stable condition.
