Coker university Summer Program opens opportunities for local students

The Coker University Upward Bound Program is now accepting applications for its upcoming summer experience, offering local high school students a unique opportunity to explore college life, career pathways, and educational travel beyond the classroom.
Designed to support first-generation and college-bound students, the program provides academic enrichment, mentorship, and exposure to new environments. This year’s summer experience includes an out-of-state educational trip focused on leadership, STEM exploration, and cultural learning.
Students in the Pee Dee region will have the chance to participate in college visits, hands-on workshops, and guided experiences designed to prepare them for success in higher education.
“Our goal is to open doors for students who may not otherwise have access to these opportunities,” said James Hall, Director of TRIO with the program. “We want students to see what’s possible for their future and give them the tools to get there.”
The program is currently open to eligible rising 9th -12th high school students in Darlington, Dillon and Marion counties. Interested students and families are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
