Attempted robbery at Dollar General outside of Hartsville
The Darlington County Sheriff’s Office was investigating an attempt to rob a Dollar General on 5th Street outside Hartsville on July 19.
An employee told deputies that about 8 p.m., two men carrying handguns, their faces partially covered with masks, entered the store and demanded money from the employee. She told the gunmen that she didn’t have keys to the cash drawer or safe. She said another employee, working in the back of the store, had the keys.
At that point, the men fled, according to reports. No shots were fired.
