Agape umbrellas on the Square

Dozens of colorful umbrellas decorated the courtyard around the Darlington County Courthouse on Monday, November 21 as a memorial to local hospice patients who passed away during this past year, and as a reminder that November is National Hospice Month. Representatives from Agape Hospice set up the display and were on site to provide information about hospice care services. The umbrellas included a number of patriotic-themed flag designs commemorating veterans on hospice care, and all umbrellas were for sale at a cost of $50 each, with the proceeds funding care for indigent patients without insurance or those with insurance gaps.
“We set these displays up in local communities to memorialize the individuals who have passed on,” said Colan Shiver, director of marketing for Agape Hospice, noting that the vibrant umbrellas symbolize the colorful lives led by these 75 people.
