The Darlington County Cultural Realism Center has planned a full weekend to commemorate the 30th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Celebration.

According to CRC director Wilhelmina P. Johnson, the theme this year is World Unity – Peace, Love and Understanding.

In keeping with her theme of bolstering children, Johnson has planned an event on Saturday, January 16 from noon to 4 p.m. at the CRC Vision Center, 302 Pearl Street in Darlington for young men and women ages 17 – 28. Please dress as if attending a job interview to learn tips on how to present themselves to better acquire employment.

On Sunday, January 17, citizens are asked to attend their home church, during regular church service hours.

The official holiday celebration will be held on Monday, January 18th at 12 noon. A service is planned at St. James UMC on 312 Pearl Street, Darlington. Keynote speaker will be Rev. Michelle Law-Gordon. Music will be performed by local adult and youth choirs.
