Wednesday night shooting ends in fatality

A shooting in the Hartsville area, as reported by the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office, has tragically resulted in a fatality. Deputies responded to a call on Wednesday night in the vicinity of Johnson Street, where a person was found deceased from a gunshot wound. The victim’s identity has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.

According to the sheriff’s office, the perpetrator has surrendered to authorities but is currently hospitalized. The individual will face multiple charges once formally charged. The suspect’s identity will be made public following the completion of the charging process.

The Darlington County Sheriff’s Office is collaborating with the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) to investigate the incident further.
