Victim refuses to press charges against Walmart assailant
On Thursday, August 3, 2023, Darlington Police Officers were dispatched to Walmart in reference to a male subject assaulting a female. The subject was armed with a handgun, according to Darlington Police Chief James “Jimmy” Davis.
Officers spotted a subject leaving the area in a vehicle and when Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver failed to stop.
The suspect driver hit a median on McIver Road and damaged his vehicle, then ran on foot, inside a house. Officers set up a perimeter around the house. Officers made contact with the victim, but the victim declined to make a complaint and refused to assist Officers with details of the alleged assault.
With no victim’s complaint, officers had the vehicle towed and cleared the scene. No arrest was made.
