Two killed in Darlington County traffic accidents

Two people have been killed in recent traffic accidents on Darlington County roads, officials say. On Dec. 18, a pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle, according to the Darlington County coroner’s office. The coroner’s office identified the victim as Leroy Brown, 62. He was homeless, officials said. On Dec. 19, the S.C. Highway Patrol says, one person died when a Dodge Ram ran off Rhodes Community Road near Bryant Street. The vehicle hit a tree, veered into a ditch, flipped over and caught fire, the patrol tells local media. The victim was identified by the coroner’s office as Frederick Jordan Swygert, 24. Swygert lived in Lexington, according to partial obituary information posted on the website of Barr-Price Funeral Home of Lexington. — Bobby Bryant
