Two employees shot outside Burger King

Two employees of the Burger King on Lamar Highway, just outside the Darlington city limits, were shot Saturday night while taking out trash, officials said. The employees’ conditions were not publicly known as of Monday morning. Darlington County Sheriff James Hudson told news media that one employee suffered gunshot wounds to the face and arms; he said the other was shot in an arm and leg. The shootings, or at least their aftermath, were witnessed by customers in the drive-through lane. The restaurant apparently closed after the incident and a truck blocked the entrance to the Burger King. Monday morning, an employee answering the phone said the restaurant was open for business as normal. The Darlington County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shootings.
