Trinity Collegiate School Cheer Team wins again

For the second year, the Trinity Collegiate School Competitive Cheer Team, coached by Katy McCoy, won the SCISA State Championship. The Titans competed in the 3A Competitive Division II. They had the highest overall score for 1A, 2A, and 3A teams in the competition. McCoy, who has coached the team for the past two years at Trinity Collegiate, said, “Even though we had a late start to the season, the summer conditioning paid off. We weren’t even sure if we were going to be able to have a season this year, but we are so grateful that we did.” The Trinity Collegiate Competitive Team had 14 participants in the program during the 2019-2020 year; this year, the number of participants increased to 21. Because of the increased interest, the school competed in Division II this year. McCoy summed up her feeling about the win saying, “The bond, work ethic, and motivation of this team is a coach’s dream. I love every kid on that team and they love each other. They wanted to win, and they did. I’m so incredibly proud of them!” The 2020 Trinity Collegiate Competitive Cheer Team members are: Ava Ard, Morgan Banner, Jean Cates, Margaret Cates, Carlisle Edwards, Evelyn Edwards, Mary Chellis Ellington, Eleanor Farrell, Simmons Hanna, Schipman Johnston, Becca Lindler, Izzy Moore, Lauren Olsen, Maggie Peebles, Kinady Pierce, Taylor Pierce, Sami Rosi, Garner Sonfield, Josh Sturgis, Caroline Woodberry.
