Trinity-Byrnes launches new program

Trinity-Byrnes Collegiate School, a college preparatory school in Darlington County, announces a new Pre-AP program for academic year 2020-2021.
The Pre-AP program, developed by College Board researchers and experts, focuses on developing content skills and prepares students for high school coursework and college readiness.
“We are excited to become one of the first Pre-AP schools in the state of South Carolina,” says Kelly Byrd, Associate Head of School. “I whole heartedly believe that our teachers and students alike will benefit from the working and learning within the Pre-AP course frameworks. Partnering with the College Board to offer Pre-AP courses to our students, facilitates a natural progression and readiness for future AP courses.”
Pre-AP courses are open to students in grades 8-12 and participating schools receive an official Pre-AP designation for each course. This designation signals consistent, high standards in focused courses that help build, strengthen and reinforce students’ content knowledge and skills.
Ed Hoffman, Head of School, said: “The Pre-AP program is the most comprehensive and progressive available for students in the Advanced Placement track. The rigorous course frameworks provide an excellent educational foundation not only for more advanced school courses, but for college and beyond.”
The school will begin by offering eight Pre-AP classes starting in the 2020-2021 academic year and expand the course offerings in subsequent years.
Course offerings for 2020-21 include Pre-AP English I, Pre-AP English II, Pre-AP Biology, Pre-AP Chemistry, Pre-AP Dance, Pre-AP Music, Pre-AP Theatre, and Pre-AP Visual Arts.
