For the third time in eight days, a detention officer in Darlington County has been arrested on charges of misconduct. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division on July 22 arrested Jessica Graham, 30, of Timmonsville, a now-dismissed officer at the county detention center. SLED said in a statement that Graham is accused of providing money to, and engaging “in an inappropriate relationship” with, an inmate at the county jail. She is charged with misconduct in office. SLED investigated the case at the request of the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office. On July 14, SLED arrested another detention center officer for allegedly using a Taser on a handcuffed inmate; she was charged with assault and misconduct. On the same day, SLED arrested an officer at the Darlington County Prison Camp; he is accused of bringing an inmate a cellphone and accepting money from inmates’ families. The prison camp is separate from the county jail. It’s a facility where state Department of Corrections inmates are held while they are prepared to re-enter society.
