SCDOT lists three future bridge closures in Darlington County

Thursday, August 25th, the South Carolina Department of Transportation met to discuss the closure of three bridges in Darlington County due to repairs.
The three bridges that will be closed are: Lamar Hwy (US 401) over sparrow swamp for approximately 90 days, Cashua St (SC 34) over Swift Creek also closed for 90 days, and then Cashua Ferry Rd (SC 34) over Black Creek for 60 days. Construction is set to officially begin late 2022.
The total approximate cost for the repairs is set to be 4 million dollars and will be funded by federal funds from the lump sum Statewide Bridge Preventative Maintenance.
Each bridge will be closed with detours in place to prevent dramatic travel delays. Both bridges on SC 34 crossing Black Creek and Swift Creek will not be closed at the same time.
