SCDOA expands Pee Dee services

The South Carolina Department on Aging (SCDOA) is pleased that the SC State Legislature has approved funding to expand their Dementia Care Specialist program to all 10 regions of our great state. They would like to introduce Amy Rushing as their newest Dementia Care Specialist, supporting the Pee Dee region which includes Darlington, Florence, Marlboro, Dillon, Chesterfield, and Marion counties. Amy is based out of the Hartsville Memorial Library.
The role of the Dementia Care Specialist is dedicated to offering education and support related to Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia and to helping families navigate the various services that are available in our counties and statewide. As cases of dementia continue to rise, it is essential that residents have access to the information and resources they need. While there is no cure for these conditions, there is support that can make a difference in improving the lives of those affected. Additionally, the role will provide support for organizations already working to assist those affected, ensuring that more resources are available locally.
