Ronnie Michael Smith

DARLINGTON- Ronnie Michael Smith, age 63, passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022. The family received friends from 7:00pm until 9:00pm on Saturday, January 29 at Flat Creek Free Will Baptist Church (2951 Society Hill RD, Darlington) and other times at home (1502 Mechanicsville Hwy). Funeral services were held Sunday, January 29 at 3:00 pm in Flat Creek Free Will Baptist Church with burial following in the church cemetery directed by Belk Funeral Home.
Ronnie was born in Lexington, SC on July 29, 1958, son of the late Morris B. and Frances S. Smith. Ronnie worked in the gas line industry for over 45 years, working for Foremost Pipeline, then he worked for Peoples Natural Gas, SCE&G, finally retiring from Dominion Energy. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, eating seafood with his friends and camping with his wife, family and the Palmetto Sunny Travelers camping buds by the creeks in the mountains and across the Southeast. Mr. Smith was a devoted member of Flat Creek Free Will Baptist Church, where he was faithful in serving his Lord, his church family, and his friend and pastor, Lon Howle.
He is survived by his wife, Shelene Eastman Smith, his son, Matthew Joseph Smith, both of Darlington, a grandson, Ethan Cole Smith of Legrange, NC, his sister, Shirley S. (Randy) Chalmers of Gilbert, his uncles, Stanley (Patsy) Sharpe, Wyman Sharpe both of Lexington, mother-in-law, Mary Eastman, brothers-in-law, Jesse Eastman and Michael Eastman, great-uncle, Bernie Mills of Darlington and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by an Aunt Jeanette S. Price. Memorials may be made to Flat Creek Free Will Baptist Church, c/o Lon Howle, 2100 East Lydia Highway, Hartsville, SC 29550.
