‘Road rage,’ gunshot spark car chase June 3

Officials were describing a June 3 car chase through the city of Darlington and the county as a “road rage” case involving a shot being fired after two cars collided. Darlington County Sheriff James Hudson reports that the incident began with a collision on Billy Farrow Highway. At some point after that, a shot was fired. One car pursued the other into the Darlington city limits, around the Darlington Public Square, officials said, then back out into the county until the chase ended in the Mechanicsville area on Nordell Street. One suspect reportedly had been detained as at least three agencies – the city police, the county Sheriff’s Office and the Highway Patrol – got involved in the pursuit.
