Reports: Heavy law-enforcement response was for missing person

A large law-enforcement response near Lamar Aug. 30 was in response to a missing-person case, according to media reports. Local news media reported that officers from the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office and the Hartsville Police Department, along with first responders from the Darlington County Fire District and Hartsville Fire Department, converged at a home on Lawson Grove Road near Lamar. Photos showed officers meeting under a tent set up at the scene and also showed at least one ATV at the site. Officials at first declined to say what they were investigating, but later reports said it was a missing-person case. The missing person was found and returned home, according to reports.
